just say "no."

There are two sides to being single. At times, you really feel the loneliness; especially when going to bed alone, cooking for one, and so on. On the other hand, you know darn well that being alone is much better than engaging in some over-dramatic relationship. Still, if you’re in your mid-30s like me, most of your close friends are married or at least heading that way. Basically, being single can be a tough pill to swallow, but in it lies opportunity.

If you are alone, there is a lot to be said for taking that time for you. Fully engage in a passion that has been placed on the back-burner. Gain confidence to do something that you have always wanted to do. Make some new friends. See some new sights. If you have a child(ren), focus on their growth. Just simply step out of your comfort zone all around. You are the most beautiful when you are genuinely living your truths. If you are doing healthy things to bring positivity to your mind, it will result in naturally making better choices. How you feel is what you will attract. If you feel inner chaos, the greater the potential is to attract chaos. This goes for a lot of things, but it is especially important in matters of the heart.

Learning to say a firm “no” is a beautiful and empowering thing. It is not always easy, especially when those lonely feelings creep in. However, it is important. Nobody compares to you. You are irreplaceable. You are unique. You are deserving. You are talented. You are beautiful. You are loved by family and friends alike. You love you, too (you better). When approached by anyone who seeks to counter those wonderful feelings, you let that person go. Early on. No questions asked. A proper mate is attracted to you because you feel that way, and they will not be threatened by it. A proper mate will also remind you when you forget; we are only human after all. It is amazing what we overlook in hopes that we have met our match. You will know when it is not, and we all get those signs. Do not ignore that “off” feeling. Do not settle. Remember, you deserve complete happiness. It is out there, so if you have to wait…. well, wait.

You deserve to find the one that touches on every aspect of your life. So today, say “no” to a situation or a person that is not serving your well-being. Take the time to get up on your own two feet, and be ready when your special one comes along. It will happen. Take care of you, first. <3
