What is true happiness, and how do we reach it?
I have always believed that happiness stems from within; somewhere deep within our souls in an intangible and unexplainable place. It does not come from material possessions, nor can we depend on others’ to provide it for us.
I believe we find happiness when we understand this. It is when we learn to be grateful for our own health and existence. It is when we bring light and smiles to others’ faces. It is when we do not live for instant gratification. It is when we forgive those who have wronged us. It is when we catch ourselves smiling, even with the weight of the world on our shoulders. It is resiliency when in the face of adversity. True inner peace is a blessing, and we harbor the power to journey down its path.
I am not saying that bad days are not inevitable. Although, that fantasy land would be wonderful. Even the happiest of the bunch succumb to life’s daily anxieties at some point. It is the ability to find solace in our life’s storms. It is our reactions to those adversities that do cross our paths. It is all about perspective in regard to life’s bigger picture; not necessarily the day by day obstacles.
What are you doing today to help you seek inner peace and balance?
